A SEAT AT THE TABLE STARTS HERE
Meet Forty
The familiar 28 pack, with a second Jack in every suit.
Rules preview. The pack and two-team structure are settled; deal shape, complete auction and Jack redeal trigger remain pending.
01. Two Jacks really do mean two Jacks
Each suit contains J, J, 9, A, 10, K, Q, 8, 7: nine cards, worth ten points. The full pack has 36 cards and 40 points. Every physical card has its own identity, including the identical Jacks. Of two identical cards played to a trick, the earlier one wins the tie.
02. Six players, two teams
Alternate seats belong to the same team: seats 1, 3, 5 versus 2, 4, 6. That is two teams of three, never three pairs. Each player receives six cards. An eight-player 40 is not specified.
03. A forty-point pack needs its own bands
The documented opening minimum is 20, not 12. The six-player bands are 20–29 (+1/−2), 30–33 (+2/−3), 34–39 (+3/−4), and exactly 40 (+4/−5). Complete auction flow and partner-raise thresholds still need confirmation.
04. Forty is not six-player 28
Six-player 28 can reach 36 cards by adding zero-point sixes. Forty instead adds an extra Jack per suit, so the pack is worth 40. These are different games and must not share a misleading rules label.
