A SEAT AT THE TABLE STARTS HERE
How to play Kazhutakali
The aim is simple: don’t be the last person holding cards.
The settled shedding and strike rules are below. End-of-round edge cases and complete match format need confirmation; the table labels any available practice accordingly.
01. A full pack and uneven hands
Deal the whole 52-card pack anticlockwise. Aces rank highest, followed by K, Q, J, 10 down to 2. There are no trumps or teams. The holder of A♠ starts the first round.
02. Follow suit if you can
The leader chooses a suit by playing a card. Each next player must follow that suit if they hold it. If everyone follows, all cards played leave the game, and the highest card’s player leads next.
03. A strike ends the round, immediately
A player who has none of the active suit plays any other suit. This strike stops the round. The player who played the highest active-suit card so far collects every card in that round, including the striking card. Unplayed seats lose their turn. The collector leads next.
04. Watch who is collecting
You lead K♥. The next player follows with 4♥. The third player has no hearts and strikes with A♣. You collect all three cards because K♥ was highest in the active suit. The fourth player never plays to that round.
05. Getting out safely
Traditionally, the last player still holding cards loses the game. Letter matches give that player a letter towards KAZHUTA. Exact simultaneous-empty and next-leader edge cases remain under review, so the documented rules should not imply a finalised competitive match.
At a physical table, striking while holding the active suit is a serious rule breach. Online the server should prevent the move, rather than relying on someone noticing later.
